Allene Ellen Rich (Bartley) Duzan, the daughter of Robert Ray and Goldie Rich was born July 28, 1921 in Rich Hill, MO. She passed peacefully in her home in Nevada, MO on September 21, 2021 at 4:25 a.m.
She married Frank Bartley in March 1940 and lived a short time in Kansas City then moved to Rich Hill, MO. To this union, they had two children, Paul Allen Bartley and Sharlene (Bartley) Smith. In 1971 she was married to Kenneth Duzan. They made their home in Nevada, MO. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada, MO. In 1951 she worked at the Pendleton Woolen Factory in Rich Hill making material for men’s Pendleton jackets and nylon fabric for baby quilts and scarves. Later she worked at the Nellie Dawn dress factory in Nevada. She was a bookkeeper for Rich Hill Grain and Duzan Trucking and retired after many years of faithful service.
As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Allene gave a legacy of love, joy, and adventure to her family. Many memories of card games, sing-alongs, quizzing to test how much they knew about history and life facts, fun trips to Stockton or Branson, staying in the camper and always having a home decorated to welcome every season and occasion made her family feel special and loved.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Duzan; siblings: Bob, Marvin, Everette, George, Leslie and Roxie; her son, Paul Bartley; granddaughter, Jallah; her niece, Diana Corban, whom she loved and raised like a daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharlene Smith of Pleasant Hill, MO; four grandchildren, Natalie Hightower and Robert of Joplin, MO, Melody Todd and Ronald of Lamar, MO, Malissa Kerr and Michael of Clearbrook, MN, and Matthew Smith and wife, Irene of Pauls Valley, OK, and two step grandsons, Chris and Bill Kim. Eighteen great grandchildren, two step great grand-daughters, thirteen great-great grandchildren, with three more on the way; her loving sister-in-law, Ella Mae Rich; niece, Vickie Sue Rich; nephew, Warren Rich; nephew, Brian Corban and niece, Danielle Sanchez, that were more like grandchildren to her and their father, Vaughn Corban, residing in Nixa, MO and many other relatives and friends.
On August 7th, 2021, she celebrated her 100th birthday party with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones!
Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Heuser Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1 pm until service time on Friday at Heuser Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.heuserfunerals.com
