Glenda Mcelroy

Glenda S. McElroy was born January 8, 1936, In Butler, Missouri to Glen W. Rapps and Cecile Deems Rapps.  She died Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri.  Glenda grew up on a farm east of Rich Hill and attended school at Mission Branch, before moving closer to Rich Hill and graduating from Rich Hill High School in 1954.  On January 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jerry W. McElroy.  To this union two daughters were born.  Jerry preceded her in death on July 15, 1983.  Glenda was employed by West Central Missouri Community Action Agency from 1975 to 2000 as a Family and Community Development Specialist.  Upon her retirement in 2000, she was recognized by the Missouri Senate for 25 years of exceptional service and dedication.  In addition, she was a former member of the Missouri Association of Community Agencies, the Habitat for Humanity Selection Committee and the Shelter Workshop Board.  She was also a member of the Rich Hill United Methodist Church and the Ohio Street Methodist Church in Butler.  Glenda is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Robin and Joel Dye of Springfield, Missouri and Shannon and Kirk Bjerke of Butler, Missouri, and one sister, Martha Beshore of Butler, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edward E. Rapps.

Glenda's request was to be cremated with no service.  The family has requested that Glenda be remembered by making contributions to the Rich Hill Memorial Library, the Butler Library of the American Diabetes Association.  Contributions can be made through the Heuser Funeral Home, 4th and Walnut Street, Rich Hill, Missouri  64779.
