Kenneth Edward Foster

May 27, 1952 — February 7, 2025

Rich Hill, Missouri

Kenneth Edward Foster “Bub” was born on May 27,1952 to Kenneth “Pete” and Icie (Bowen) Foster in Butler, Missouri and passed away February 7, 2025 in Appleton City at the age of 72.

In 1958-59 he started first grade, but the family moved from Rich Hill to California, Texas, and Kansas before settling in Peculiar where he had to restart first grade over again. Pete got a job as a truck driver/farmhand and Kenneth and Lester had jobs on the farm feeding the cattle, hogs, chickens, and milking the cow. The older kids were also responsible for helping with the garden, housework, and looking after their younger siblings. In 1962, he and Lester finally got to drive the tractors and other farm equipment. Over the years he had many different jobs including laying carpet, delivering phone books all over the Kansas City area, house cleaning, working the gardening center at Walmart, household repairs, as well as running his own cabinet shop in Schell City. He was very thrifty and handy.

On September 25, 1996, Kenneth was baptized by Rev. Larry Black at the Home Fellowship Church in Rich Hill alongside his father and his siblings Marion and Wyvonne.

Kenneth loved his family more than anything in this world and there was no one he loved more than his six children. In younger years he could be seen running between ball games to try to catch parts of everyone's games including nephews and nieces. He spent many hours doing homework with the kids, and they saved cans all year to go camping at the lake in the summer. He was proud of each of them and his stepchildren. He also had regrets as many of us do. He was a big Royals and Chiefs fan, often going to games at Kauffman with family members and at least a game or two at Arrowhead.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Icie Foster; son, William Richardson; sisters, Esther Foster and Wyvonne West; brother, Clarence Foster; and several other extended family members.

He is survived by his sons, Jon Foster, Dakota Foster, and Travis Foster; his daughters Samantha Foster and Jessica Foster; brothers Lester (Sandy) Foster, and Marion Foster; sisters Chris Foster, Ruby Foster, Roma Demster, Lillian DeTienne, Anna Fillpot, and Penny Knight. He also leaves behind a vast number of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. He will be greatly missed.
