Phyllis Ann (Middleton) Brassfield, 76, of Rich Hill, Missouri passed away on January 8, 2022 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Brassfield; her parents, Virginia and Clarence Middleton; her brothers, Richard and Jay Middleton; and one great-grandson, Maddox.She was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 14, 1945. She was a graduate of Argentine High School in 1963. She worked as a secretary, preparing taxes for Magazine & Lerner. She was married twice, the second time to Jay Brassfield. Survivors include one brother, Kirk Middleton (Patty), her children: Kimberly Robinson (Wes), Laura Pundt (Tim), Amy Brooks, Carl Brassfield (Jaime); her grandchildren: Samantha Hostetter, Tayrin Schmitt, Kodie Schmitt (Macey), Emma Wagemaker (Billy), Greg Pundt, and Bella Brooks; and three great-grandchildren: Heath, Taylee, and Connor. Phyllis described her early years as “the perfect childhood.” She was active in the United Methodist Church through the years. Her current interests were the Kern Center, puzzles, her family, friends, and pets. She wanted to say she “never knew a stranger,” that she was “caring and fun-loving,” and that she was “a talker, but tried to listen.” She was kind, loving, and loyal. She was loved by many.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, January 14, 2021 at the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Missouri. Graveside funeral service will be 2 pm Friday at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, 23215 W 75th St, Shawnee, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, January 13 at the Heuser Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to the Kern Senior Center, c/o Heuser Funeral Home.
