Wanda Mae Heckadon Peterman, 94, was promoted to glory on October 5, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born in Rich Hill, Mo. on April 20, 1930 the daughter of John Loyd and Goldie Heckadon.
On November 23, 1948 James (Jim) and Wanda were united in marriage, which lasted 59 years until Jim's death in 2007. From this union were four children that survive. Jerry (Bonnie) Peterman, Terry (Sara Compton) Peterman, Sheila (Jess) Burrous, and Kevin (Stacey Harper) Peterman.
After raising her own children, Wanda cared for a number of children in her home. She was fondly called 'Mom' in the community. Her passion and precision in sewing was also well known. Jim and Wanda enjoyed camping in their travel trailer and often visited the Branson area. In later years Wanda was often found working with sons Terry and Kevin assisting the with the business of manufacturing and installing kitchen cabinets. She enjoyed playing dominos with son Jerry and visits with daughter Sheila.
Wanda was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and worked for many years collecting and keeping records of the offerings on Sunday mornings.
Additional survivors include grandchildren Jeff (Faith) Peterman, Kyle (Robin) Peterman, Crystal (James) Wisher, Tiffany Burrous, 6 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Wanda in death are her parents; Loyd and Goldie, husband; Jim, bothers; Loyd Elvin Heckadon, John Cecil Heckadon, Billy Gene Heckadon and grandson; Jonathan Peterman.
The Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. prior to the visitation on Wednesday, October 9, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill. Funeral services for Wanda will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Rich Hill on Thursday, October 10, 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill.
Memorial donations in Wanda's name may be made to St. Bridget Catholic Church, Rich Hill Memorial Library or your favorite charity in care of Heuser Funeral Home.
